Who We Are

Why Homeowners In Laurel Hill Keep GD Commercial Roofing's Number Saved

GD Commercial Roofing started with two crew leads who got tired of watching sales-first outfits quote jobs they'd never personally climb a ladder to check. Every estimator here still walks the roof before pricing it.

Field crews carry current state licensing and workers' comp coverage, and we keep proof of both on hand, no need to ask twice.

A 2 a.m. call about water coming through a ceiling gets treated with the same urgency as any daytime emergency. Roofs don't check a clock before they fail.

We buy materials from manufacturers whose warranties survive an actual claim, not the cheapest line on a supplier's price sheet.

Rather than special-ordering every job from scratch, we stock the shingle lines and colors that move fastest in Laurel Hill, which trims days off the typical project timeline.

Know The Warning Signs

Small Clues That Mean A Roofing Call Shouldn't Wait

A roof rarely fails without warning. These are the signs our crews spot most often on service calls across Laurel Hill, usually months before an interior leak shows up. None of these checks require climbing onto the roof itself, just a careful look from the ground, the attic, or the gutter line.

Shingle Grit In The Gutters

A little granule loss is normal wear; a gutter full of dark grit after a rain usually means the protective coating has thinned enough to let UV rays start breaking down the mat underneath. A quick gutter check after any hard rain costs nothing and catches this early.

Light Leaking Into The Attic

Turn off the attic light on a sunny day. Any pinpoint daylight through the decking means there's a path for water too, whether or not a stain has appeared yet. It takes five minutes and requires no special tools, just a flashlight and a moment of patience.

Shingles Curling At The Edges

Edges lifting or the shingle body cupping both point to asphalt that's dried out and lost its seal, which gives wind an easy edge to grab. Binoculars from the ground are usually enough to spot this without climbing anything.

A Springy Roof Deck

Decking that gives slightly underfoot, especially near a valley, usually means the plywood underneath has already taken on moisture and started to soften. This one's better left to a trained inspector rather than testing it yourself.

Flashing Separating From Walls

Gaps between flashing and the adjoining wall often go unnoticed until a hard rain finds them first. Binoculars help here too, focused on where the roofline meets any vertical wall or chimney.

A Creeping Cooling Bill

Poor attic ventilation tied to roof age can push summer attic temperatures up 20 to 40 degrees, which shows up on the power bill before it shows up as a leak. Comparing this July's bill against last July's is a rough but useful gut check.

What We Install & Repair

Roofing Categories We Cover, Start To Finish

Every category below is handled by our own crews, not a rotating list of subcontractors, which keeps quality consistent from the estimate to the final walkthrough. If a job falls outside these categories, ask anyway, there's a good chance we've handled something similar before.

24/7 Emergency Roofing experts in Laurel Hill, NC

Emergency Leak & Storm Response

Active leaks get stopped first with an emergency tarp or membrane, then scheduled for permanent repair once materials are staged and the damage is fully assessed. A quick check-in after the initial tarp job makes sure everything's holding before we lock in a date for the permanent repair.

Full Residential Reroofs

A single-family tear-off and reroof in Laurel Hill usually runs one to two days, with synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys, and ventilation matched to the new shingle system. We help homeowners choose a shingle line during the estimate, which keeps the crew from standing around waiting on a color pick mid-project.

Affordable Roofing solutions in Laurel Hill, NC

Commercial & Low-Slope Systems

Commercial projects get a dedicated project manager who coordinates around tenant schedules, loading docks, and rooftop equipment, not just a crew showing up unannounced. Where a full replacement isn't necessary, we'll evaluate a recover or coating system that extends service life at a lower upfront cost.

Storm & Hail Claims Support

Post-hail inspections come with adjuster-ready photo documentation of impact marks, bruised mats, and creased flashing before any repair work starts. If an initial claim scope looks short, we'll provide a supplemental report with added photo evidence to support a fair settlement.

Inspections & Maintenance Plans

Maintenance plans cover gutter and valley clearing, sealant checks around every penetration, and a full moisture scan, all documented for future resale or insurance needs. Maintenance clients also move up the priority list during storm season, which matters when every crew in Laurel Hill is suddenly booked solid.

Metal & Specialty Roofing

Standing-seam metal, architectural shingles, and specialty tile all require different fastening patterns, and our crews carry manufacturer certification for each system installed. We'll source a close color and profile match for partial tile or slate repairs rather than leaving an obvious mismatched section.

How A Job Runs

Our Process, Laid Out Plainly

You Describe The Problem

A live dispatcher, not a script, takes down the details of the damage or project in Laurel Hill and books the fastest inspection slot available. There's no automated phone tree to get through first.

We Inspect In Person

We measure the deck, flashing, and ventilation, not just the visible shingle layer, so the quote reflects the real scope of the job. Most inspections take under an hour.

You Get Pricing In Writing

A line-item quote covering materials, labor, and disposal comes before any work starts, and it doesn't change unless hidden decking damage turns up mid-tear-off. You can take as long as you need to review it before scheduling.

Crew Installs, Then Walks It With You

We register the manufacturer warranty on your behalf and send a copy for your records along with our own workmanship guarantee. Payment isn't due until you've had a chance to see the finished work.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

The Difference Between Us And A Door-Knocking Crew

A door-to-door outfit has no reason to build a roof that holds up for twenty years in this town. We do, since we plan to still be answering calls here next year. Most of what separates us shows up months later, not on the day the crew leaves.

01
Written, Flat-Rate Pricing

No per-square guessing. Every quote is a written line-item breakdown of materials, labor, and disposal before a shingle comes off. Financing options exist if a full reroof doesn't fit into this month's budget.

02
Crews Staged Locally

Local staging means a crew is rarely more than a short drive from any job we quote in Laurel Hill. That same local presence means a real person can meet you on-site after the job wraps if a question comes up.

03
Licensed, Insured, Certified

Every technician carries current state licensing plus general liability and workers' comp coverage, on hand and available on request. Documentation gets shown before a contract is signed, not after a question comes up.

04
Honest Repair-Vs-Replace Calls

We'll say plainly when a targeted repair solves the problem instead of pushing a full reroof that isn't needed yet. That honesty is most of why past customers call us back for the next project.

The Guarantee

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong Later

Beyond the standard manufacturer material warranty, we back our own labor with a workmanship guarantee, which covers a different kind of failure than a material defect would.

If a covered issue shows up, we come back and fix it at no charge, and we'll explain in plain terms what is and isn't covered before you ever sign anything.

Warranty coverage typically runs anywhere from five to fifty years depending on the material system installed, and we'll spell out the exact term for your specific project before you decide anything.

Proper warranty registration at project close means the material coverage is actually usable later, not lost in paperwork that never got filed.

Where We Work

Dispatch Zones Covering Laurel Hill And The Surrounding Zips

Crews run daily routes through Laurel Hill and the zip codes around it, which keeps arrival windows tight even during the busiest stretch of storm season.

Jobs get tracked by neighborhood, not just city name, so if one side of Laurel Hill takes a harder hit in a storm, crews can shift there within hours instead of waiting on a call center to reassign work.

We factor in Laurel Hill's typical wind exposure when recommending fastening patterns and underlayment, not a one-size-fits-all spec sheet copied from another market.

New requests for Laurel Hill addresses typically get a callback within the hour during business hours, and after-hours emergency calls get routed to whichever crew is closest at that moment.

In 1797 the Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church was established. The church was named for the laurel growing in the area. A community formed in the vicinity of the church, and after the American Revolutionary War it prospered as a center of commerce. Most of the initial settlers were Scottish Highlanders. A post office was established by 1822. A line of the Wilmington, Charlotte and Rutherford Railroad was later laid and a depot established to the south of the church area, and by 1861 most of the community had migrated there. A turpentine distillery and tub manufacturer were established. Federal troops under William Tecumseh Sherman camped by the church in 1865 during the Carolinas campaign of the American Civil War. In the 1870s John F. McNair created a general store in Laurel Hill. In 1900 Z.V. Pate purchased McNair's general store and transformed it into a large regional furniture retailer. Beginning in 2004, the community has hosted an annual festival, LaurelFest. In 2020 the local community center was demolished and the Scotland County Commission contracted construction of a new one the following year.

Questions We Hear Often

Quick Answers Before You Pick Up The Phone

How quickly can a Roofing crew get to Laurel Hill?▼
Emergency calls jump the queue ahead of routine estimates, so most tarp-and-secure visits happen the same day they're called in.
Is the pricing really upfront, no surprises later?▼
Yes, every job gets a written line-item quote before work starts, and pricing only changes if hidden decking damage turns up mid-tear-off, which we'll show you directly.
What counts as an emergency roofing call?▼
Anything actively letting water into the structure gets priority dispatch, day or night, ahead of scheduled estimates.
Will you work directly with my insurance adjuster?▼
Yes, we're happy to coordinate scheduling with your adjuster and supply a detailed damage report formatted for a claim.
How long does a full residential reroof take?▼
Most single-family tear-offs and reroofs in Laurel Hill finish in one to two days, weather permitting.
What roofing materials and systems do you install?▼
Architectural and three-tab asphalt shingles, standing-seam and exposed-fastener metal, TPO and EPDM for flat roofs, and specialty tile.
Is there a warranty on the work itself?▼
Yes, every installation comes with a written workmanship warranty on our labor, separate from the manufacturer's material warranty.
Do you offer any kind of financing?▼
We work with a few financing partners so larger projects can be split into manageable monthly payments; ask during your estimate for current options.
How do I know if I need a repair instead of a full replacement?▼
We only recommend full replacement when a targeted repair genuinely won't hold, and we'll explain the reasoning either way.
Are your crews actually licensed and insured in Laurel Hill?▼
Yes, every crew carries current state licensing, general liability, and workers' comp coverage, with documentation available on request.
Can you match my existing shingles for a partial repair?▼
We keep a broad inventory of common shingle lines and colors and confirm a close match before starting, rather than guessing on-site.
What happens if you find additional damage once the old roof is off?▼
Any decking replacement beyond the original quote gets shown to you directly and approved before it lands on the final bill.
Do you clean up the property after the job is finished?▼
Full cleanup including a nail sweep and debris haul-off is part of every job, not an optional add-on.
Do I need to be home during the roofing work?▼
Being present isn't required during installation itself, though we do ask for access to confirm the scope beforehand and to walk the finished roof together afterward.
What's the difference between a repair and a full tear-off?▼
A repair addresses a specific damaged section while leaving the rest of the existing roof in place, while a full tear-off removes every layer down to the decking and starts fresh.
